{"id":415,"date":"2009-05-24T11:32:11","date_gmt":"2009-05-24T15:32:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gloriacrist.com\/blog\/?p=415"},"modified":"2009-05-24T11:32:11","modified_gmt":"2009-05-24T15:32:11","slug":"tears-of-a-child","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gloriacrist.com\/blog\/2009\/05\/tears-of-a-child\/","title":{"rendered":"Tears of a Child."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here is what I know:\u00a0 I can tolerate any blood and guts there is to tolerate.\u00a0 I have pulled people out of burning cars while parts of their flesh was still burning.\u00a0( it&#8217;s true)\u00a0I have gotten someone from one place ( the\u00a0Bahamas)\u00a0to another(Connecticut) when one sneeze left\u00a0herimmediatly\u00a0paralyzed from the waist down.\u00a0(yes, this is true)\u00a0I have seen a bone break through the skin and witnessed numerous things that left an unshakable imprint in my mind.\u00a0 But when my child is hurting and something is wrong-really wrong,\u00a0 I am reduced to unshakeable fear.\u00a0 I am a wimp and desperate to solve the ache. Do not get in\u00a0my way.<\/p>\n<p>So when one small bite, damn recluse spider, or whatever it was that\u00a0left it&#8217;s viserated mark there,\u00a0 right behind my\u00a0 child&#8217;s right\u00a0ear, turned into more than one small bite, there was no stopping me.\u00a0 It is one thing to tell your child not to scratch- it is another when she is not able to move her neck to the\u00a0right\u00a0anymore&#8230;..a torque they call it-and that damn small bite mark has gotten bigger and redder. Oh. And. Fever.\u00a0 Damn fever.<\/p>\n<p>Thank-God for modern medicine.\u00a0 It works.\u00a0 How a mother can\u00a0 take her child and flee to keep him from needed treatment-that <em>she<\/em> things <em>he<\/em> does not need- a treatment that could save his life baffles me.\u00a0 Granted, cancer is different than a bite-but the end result should be the same:\u00a0 To find what will make it better. I can respect homeopathic, I can understand alternative forms of healing-but I can not\u00a0tolerate the &#8220;religious will&#8221; to do nothing.\u00a0 Who says God says do nothing?\u00a0\u00a0 What is wrong with these people?<\/p>\n<p>My daughter is better today-because of a\u00a0modern full grade broadband\u00a0antibiotic and a doctor who knew better than anyone else what to do.\u00a0I can exhale.\u00a0 I can sleep better and so can she.
