\u00a0On the first of January\u00a0I vowed to write a post a day-my personal goal to get back into my writing mind and launch my two one woman shows that have been dancing in the crevices of my think space for far too long.\u00a0 If you are keeping up- I am behind already.\u00a0\u00a0 See?<\/p>\n
This is what happens:\u00a0\u00a0 There are things that have to get done -my have to’s( though as I have been told- a true artist does not fiddle in the world of have to’s unless it is the time and dedication it takes to focus on the artistic form of choice)\u00a0 The only artists I know who really stay true to that philosophy have either a trust fund-or neither a child or spouse-or if they do have the latter- the self obsession is pretty high- there is a certain sort of\u00a0genuis that lurks in that kind of mind………….or maybe it is\u00a0just really creative and really selfish in the same space.<\/p>\n
I know if I had the time to do nothing but create and collaborate- and invite the genius sure to be lurking in my own mind-I doubt I would use it wisely.\u00a0 I would still, at this point, have other have to’s that needed to be done.\u00a0 BUT, I do know, when there is quiet in the day, and the phone is not ringing, the bills are paid, clothes are clean and the house is,\u00a0 well,sorta;\u00a0 I find great comfort in the hum of my mind when I can do nothing but write, or sing-or\u00a0itch some creative scratch.\u00a0 There is nothing better than being in a rehearsal process where all that stuff is given permission to play.\u00a0 A lot.\u00a0<\/p>\n
This will be the year.<\/p>\n
